Heritage Centre
Currently legal and contractual negotiations are being discussed relating to the creation of the Heritage centre at Haslar. Plans are being developed with the Museum of Military Medicine to have a home here in the former Royal Haslar Hospital in Gosport. In collaboration with Haslar Heritage Group an 18th century building [the old patients baggage store] has been offered by the developers on the historic site for a museum. It’s early days yet but we hope 2026/7 will see things moving.
The Museum of Military Medicine [formerly Army Medical Services Museum] recently moved out of Keogh Barracks near Aldershot and is looking to further develop the scope to embrace naval, and maybe even eventually air force medical history and Haslar offers excellent opportunities.
This is very early days and there is some way to go but we hope to provide updates as the project develops.
