HRH The Countess of Wessex visits Tomorrow’s People project at Haslar

Mr Andy Feculak Development Director of Our Enterpise Haslar Ltd outlines development plans for Haslar to HRH The Countess of Wessex.

HRH The Countess of Wessex recently visited The Royal Hospital, Haslar, in Gosport , Hampshire, where national employment charity Tomorrow’s People is developing The Junction, a residential and business enterprise community for people facing multiple barriers to employment. The Countess was given a tour of the site by Debbie Scott, Chief Executive of Tomorrow’s People.

The purpose of the visit was to brief The Countess, local dignitaries, supporters and partners, on the development plans at Haslar and to provide a tour of the facilities that will support this new community.

The Countess of Wessex is the Royal Patron of Tomorrow’s People and takes an active and keen interest in the work of the charity and its programmes to support those furthest from employment into work.

The model for The Junction is based on a guiding principle of work-based recovery and specialised, tailored support for participants, who will be provided with the opportunity of skills training and work experience in a supportive and self-governing environment.  Priority will be given to those from an Armed Services background and indeed to local people.

The Junction is part of a wider regeneration project at the Royal Hospital , Haslar, which is run by Our Enterprise, a Community Interest Company which brings together organisations from the private and charity sectors.

As part of her visit HRH The Countess of Wessex was given an historical overview by Mr Eric C Birbeck MVO and presented with a copy of ‘RH Haslar a Pictorial History’.
